Cocaine Addiction Treatment not working for Lindsay Lohan
Lohan was recently released from a drug rehab facility only two weeks prior to this mornings arrest, when Lindsay’s assistant’s mother reported being chased by Lindsay Lohan. When police arrived on the scene Lohan refused to give a sobriety test but was then later tested at the station. The results showed her blood alcohol level to be between .12 and .13 which is well over the California legal limit.
The star of Mean Girls was booked on two misdemeanor charges of driving on a suspended license and driving under the influence of alcohol. She was also booked on two felony charges of possession of cocaine and transportation of a narcotic. While in jail, authorities found cocaine in Lohan’s pocket.
After posting $25,000 bond Lohan was released at 6:20 am. She is scheduled to ppaer in court on August 24th.
Just last week Lohan turned herself in to Beverly Hills police for driving under the influence back on Memorial Day weekend in which Lindsay was involved in a hit and run crash.
Rumors are now circulating that Lohan will be checking into Betty Ford treatment center

Drug Rehab Celebrities and the Media
Alcohol Arrests and DUI Have Different Affects On Celebrities Public Status
For some celebrities, a drug addiction or trip to drug rehab seems to make them more raw, deep, or edgy. A star who might seem too nice or “fluffy” somehow has substance to them once we realize they have big personal issues. Age and career status can also have opposing effects. A young male movie star charged with a DUI may look tougher (like Shia LaBeouf), but an older actor with an established career might appear more disheveled and in decline.
Take Mel Gibson and his alcohol problems in the last few years. He had a DUI and some video footage rather unbecoming of a popular sex symbol actor with many accolades. Instead of aging gracefully into his older years, Mel has quickly appeared past his prime. Since the time of his DUI controversy, he has hardly been in the mainstream of movies either as a director or as an actor.
Public Scrutiny About Drug Rehab And Drug Addiction
Are we supposed to feel sorry that celebrities have the intrusion of the paparazzi and the interest of millions of fans? Well, that does come with the territory. Celebrities are often paid well and get the perks to balance out the inconveniences. But when it comes to deeply human problems like drug rehab, addiction, or mental illness, a high level of scrutiny by others is about the last thing any person (famous or not) really wants.
Would Britney Spears have busted out that window with an umbrella a few years ago if she were dealing with both her mental health problems AND her public image? Did that push her over the edge in a way that a private person wouldn’t have? That’s hard to say. People with drug addiction and mental illness can do some odd attention-grabbing things regardless of celebrity status.
Media Good or Bad For People Needing Drug Rehab
The media will do whatever benefits the media the most. Really, it’s not about protecting Britney’s or Lindsey’s or Mel’s best interests. If that were true, we might not hear so much about their problems unless they came forward on their own. The media can create whatever sensationalism they want to elicit pity, disgust, sympathy, praise, inspiration, or whatever they need to keep their media machine turning. So does that make the media completely evil? No, not necessarily.
While the sensationalism is sometimes hard to swallow (or believe), watching a very public person go through a human struggle can be a positive and even liberating for someone else. They might identify with the celebrity and see their trip to drug rehab as inspiring, an example they could follow. They might think, “If that seemingly perfect person can have a drug problem like me, maybe I’m not so strange for having a drug problem. Maybe I could give drug rehab a shot, too.”
Gather Your Courage And Go To Drug Rehab
If you need to go to drug rehab and you’ve seen celebrities do it, you might be wondering if you can take that step. It’s not an easy thing for anyone, even for people who could go to any drug rehab in the world. When it comes right down to it, drug rehab takes human courage. And courage like that is a sign of strength and hope for the a healthier life.

Another Celebrity in Rehab
Another reason why a person in rehab should not be involved in a rehab romance is because when the relationship in question turns sour, a relapse could, and often is, triggered. Not only is the addict not making recovery the priority, he or she hides the ugly side of addiction. It is human nature to show a more favorable side when starting a new relationship. This is normally innocent but admitting the negative sides of oneself is crucial for any shot at sobriety once outside of treatment.

Winehouse was denied a U.S. visa because of “use and abuse of narcotics”, but was later issued one. Let’s leave her across the pond. She’s disturbing enough peace over there.

9. Thurman Thomas
Buffalo Bills Player. 2004- arrested at a hotel because guests alerted police that they smelled marijuana and thought Thomas had drugs in his possession. They were right but geez was it necessary to be tattletales?

Another guy that rocks out the spandex, the wrestler got in trouble in 2006 for having 18 grams of marijuana and 5 Vicodin pills. The result was a $140 fine and a 30 day suspension from the WWE.
6. Marcus Vick
His name sounds familiar because his older brother Michael Vick got in trouble recently for dog fighting/mistreatment. This Vick was arrested in 2004 during a traffic stop for speeding, marijuana possession and contributing to the delinquency of minors. Quit it Vick. Let those minors become delinquents by themselves.
5. Rasheed Wallace
2002- Arrested for marijuana possession at a traffic stop.
4. Dionne Warwick
The singer was held at the Miami International Airport in 2002 after a case containing 11 marijuana cigarettes was found in her carry on bag. Warwich was unsure how the marijuana got in her bag (listen to those annoying announcements at the airport and watch your luggage Dionne!) and the charges were dropped when she agreed to perform a series of public service announcements regarding illegal drugs.
3. Lil Wayne
2006- Employees say they saw a gallon size bag of weed in his room but police report only came back with 60 pills of Alprazolama(used for anxiety disorders and panic attacks), 59 hydrocodone pills and two small burnt joints of marijuana. 2007- Charged with criminal possession of a weapon and marijuana when caught smoking by his bus. 1. Amy Winehouse
2007- The year’s best trainwreck was arrested with her husband in Norway for marijuana possession and were released after paying a fine of 3850 kroner(around $800). She was supposedly “duped” into confessing but fluent English speakers handled the confession so it’s hard to say what she’s referring to. Winehouse was denied a U.S. visa because of “use and abuse of narcotics”, but was later issued one. Let’s leave her across the pond. She’s disturbing enough peace over there.
100 Celebrities Arrested For Drug Possession

The basketball player was arrested in 2005 for having cocaine and 60 grams of marijuana and was arrested again in 2006 for marijuana possession.
39. Lil Kim
The rapper known for her outfits, or lack of outfits really, was arrested for marijuana possession after a raid at Notorious B.I.G.’s house in 1996. She also went to jail in 2005 for perjury charges. Hopefully she’s now found a stylist that buys the WHOLE outfit and not just part of it.
38. Suge Knight
The former CEO of Death Row Records has had many run-ins with the police which has resulted in multiple prison sentences. Most of the charges were related to violence like the one where he was caught on camera in Las Vegas fighting a guy who supposedly went on to shoot and kill Tupac Shakur. Because it was a probation violation, Knight was sentenced to 9 years in prison. He went back to jail for violence in 2002 and 2003. In 2005, he was pulled over for making an illegal u-turn and was found in possession of marijuana. He was released shortly thereafter.

36. Timothy Leary
The psychologist big into the use of LSD was arrested in 1965 for possession of marijuana when trying to cross into the U.S. from Mexico. His daughter was actually carrying the stuff but Leary took responsibility for it. Under the Marihuana Tax Act( I have no idea why we went from spelling it with an “h” to a “j”), Leary was sentenced to 30 years in prison, given a $30,000 fine and ordered to undergo psychiatric treatment. (I wonder if he could have requested a colleague since he worked in the field.) He appealed the case stating the act was unconstitutional and in violation of his Fifth Amendment rights. In 1968, he was arrested again for possession of two marijuana roaches which he claims were planted on him by the arresting officer. The Marihuana Tax Act was overturned by the Supreme Court in 1969 which overturned his 1965 conviction. In 1970, he was sentenced to 10 years in prison for the 1968 offense and was given a psychological evaluation when he got there. Having designed most of the tests himself, he answered them in a way that would make him seem conforming and conventional with an interest in forestry and gardening. He escaped from prison in 1970 and was on the run until 1973 when he was arrested in Afghanistan when deplaning. He tried to get political asylum from the UK but that didn’t happen and he was held on $5 million bail, the highest amount in U.S. history to that point. He was placed in solitary confinement in Folsom Prison and looking at 95 years there but was released by Governor Jerry Brown in 1976.

33. Method Man
2007- When pulled over for a traffic stop, smoke poured out of his rolled down window. He had two blunts and a bag of marijuana in plain sight, which he later tried to make up for by doing several public service announcements. Must be nice. I’m pretty very few “regular” folk could get away with doing public service announcements to make up for having marijuana. It should be on the list though I think. Would you like a fine, jail time, community service or a starring role in a public service announcement?
32. Bob Marley
Man, I was surprised when I saw his name on the list. No, not really. Although he did only get arrested once in 1977 for marijuana possession so he must have hid it in his drugs after that.
31. Linda McCartney
Paul McCartney’s missus was arrested in 1975 for marijuana possession but charges were later dropped. In 1984, her and Paul were arrested in Barbados for having marijuana and were fined $100 each. They flew to the Heathrow Airport and she was arrested again for possession. She later said that hard drugs were disgusting but marijuana is “pretty lightweight.”
30. Paul McCartney
1980- Arrested going through customs in Japan when 7.7 ounces of marijuana was found in his luggage. He had previously been denied a visa to the country after two convictions of drug possession in Europe and if he had been tried and convicted, he would have spent 7 years in prison. He was released and deported after 10 days in jail and told he wouldn’t be welcome in the country again. He played a concert there 10 years later so I guess they changed their minds.
29. Matthew McConaughey
1999- Police responded to a noise complaint at 2:30am and found McConaughey naked and playing the bongos. They also found marijuana but charges were later dropped. He was charged $50 for the noise violation though.

He was released on bail and pled guilty to driving under the influence of drugs. He was banned from driving for two years and had to do community service.
27. Katie Morgan
The porn star initially entered the porn industury as a way to pay off her sizable bail and plea bargain. She was arrested in 2000 for transporting over 100 pounds of marijuana from Mexico into the United States. Um…that’s pretty serious to bring your body weight in an illegal substance into another county. I wonder if porn directors go looking for hot chicks in trouble like lawyers chase ambulances. This is my favorite from her list of movies: “Whore of the Rings 2.” Those porn film names are so hilarious!
26. Randy Moss
2002-At a traffic stop, a small amount of marijuana was found and he bumped the officer with his car knocking her over. Not exactly sure what he was trying to accomplish there. He pled guilty and had to pay a $1,200 fine and perform 40 hours of community service.

1998-Felony weapons charge and a misdemeanor drug possession charge. Real fun came in 2004 when he was sentenced to six years in prison after entering a guilty plea for forcing his hairstylist to perform sex acts. He also admitted to extortion. I guess the only question that comes to my mind is is it really necessary for him to have a hairstylist?
23. Willie Nelson
2006-Arrested and released for 1.5 pounds of pot and a bag of mushrooms found at a traffic stop. He entered a guilty plea and was fined $1,024 and placed on probation for six months. The long-haired crooner has always been outspoken in his stance for the legalization of marijuana.
22. Iggy Pop
The singer for “The Stooges” was arrested in 1976 for marijuana possession.
21. Richard Ramirez
The creepy looking serial killer(I guess he got into the right line of work with his appearance) was arrested twice while in high school for drug possession. He was arrested for possession several time because of his habitual pot-smoking and also a misdemeanor theft charge. But then he went on to bigger and better things. Like killing lots of people. He was nicknamed the “Night Stalker” for killing people at night in California during the 80s. He was found guilty of 13 counts of murder, 5 attempted murders, 11 sexual assaults and 14 burglaries. He is currently chilling on death row.
